When the driver leaves the bus temporarily, he gives the reader just one instruction: "Don't let the pigeon drive the bus!" But, boy, that pigeon tries every trick in the book to get in that driving seat: he whines, wheedles, fibs and flatters. Will you let him drive? Told entirely in speech bubble

Reviews
"For a child, it's a delirious formula: all of a sudden, you're in charge of a bus... Well executed and so smartly layered." The New York Times; "This picture book demands audience participation... Readers will identify with the pigeon themselves!" The Bookseller"
If you haven't had a chance to read any of the "Pigeon" books yet (and there are a few now), you must grab one. This is the best one to start with. The pigeon is like a tempermental child, trying to get his way. You don't need to have kids to recognise this behaviour. The book is funny and damn good fun to read to kids, with simple and effective pictures. Absolutely a must for anyone with a sense of humour and naggy kids.
Hillarious! I have read this to a range of children aged between 3 and 7 and each one has let out big belly laughs and sat with huge grins throughout the story. I have bought 3 copies of this book - one for myself and 2 as gifts to children (one child is 11 with intellectual disability and other speical needs and he adores the book for its humour and simple dramatic build up with the emotions shown with pure raw clarity and then the end all is ok again.) Fun to share and laugh about for a good while afterwards.
I have used this book as a Primary School teaching resource and all the children love it, from Prep to Grade 6. It is an interactive book, and the children love being part of the story. Mo Willems is a fantastic author/illustrator and as a family, we thoroughly enjoy reading and re-reading his books.
This is such a funny book. My sons love it. The naughty pigeon tries so hard to persuade readers to let him drive the bus, it is such an interactive book.
One of the best childrens' books I have ever bought. My five-year old absolutely loves it! The illustrations are so simplistic but so expressive that they just completement the story beautifully. I also bought 'The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog' which is just as wonderful. Highly recommended!
A very simple, cartoon-like book for young children. My kids love it. Simple enough for them to easily read by themselves, they love the way the pigeon keeps trying to convince the reader to let him drive the bus with tricks, tantrums and bribes. A quick but fun read - simple enough for learner readers.
