"Street photography has an irresistible allure, bringing out the
voyeur in the viewer. A new book, The World Atlas of Street
Photography, has pictures by 100 established and emerging
photographers, working in more than 50 cities on five continents. .
. . Jackie Higgins, the author of the book, says for many people
the term `street photography’ conjures up artists with a signature
look from a particular era, such as Henri Cartier-Bresson or Garry
Winogrand. But the genre is experiencing a renaissance, she says,
grappling with issues like inequality in Africa and the growth of
megacities in Asia."—Eben Shapiro, Wall Street Journal

exciting contemporary (and international) moment through this
vibrant volume . . . . The images are beautiful, produced with the
same vibrant attention that the text directs toward each celebrated
photographer. It is rare for collections like this to pull off such
simultaneous breadth and depth, yet this resource of over 100

"Postcard-perfect portraits of glittery skylines provide polished
glimpses of urban life. But it’s gritty street photography that
exposes a city’s throbbing heart—the `theater of the everyday’ that
unfolds on every corner. Now, a massive tome called The World Atlas
of Street Photography has collected 700 street-photography images
from around the world. And even if you thought you knew cities like
New York, Rio, or Mumbai, these pictures will open your
eyes."—Michael Kaminer, Yahoo! Travel
