About the Author

Margaret Blaine is a nineteen year practitioner of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism which originated in the teachings of Shakamuni Buddha 2500 years ago. She has become a leader in the Nichiren Buddhist organization called the SGI-USA, the lay organization of Nichiren Buddhists in the United States. She works in the Pacific Northwest where she supports members in their practice and helps beginners learn how to practice. Margaret taught Nichiren Buddhism to newcomers in a prison for three years in Oregon and devotes herself to working with new people. She says, "I have a passion for working with new people and making this practical centuries-old way of life readily accessible to everyone. "I want to see each person be able to take charge of their life and become happy. In this way we'll be able to reduce suffering and build peace in the world. Part of what I love is that each person verifies for themselves whether the simple chanting practice taught by Nichiren Buddhists produces results in their lives." She has written a book for new people, Your Path to Unshakeable Happiness. She speaks on Nichiren Buddhism and has a website www.margaretblaine.com. Margaret is married and has three children, and two stepchildren. She has three grandchildren. She has four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren by her marriage. She loves to read, write, garden, do handwork, crocheting, beading and quilting. She works out in a gym and rides her bike. She enjoys spending time with her husband and friends and playing with her three cats.
