Reviews

"When David Nielson asked me to write the foreword to The 9 Dimensions of Conscious Success, I was pleased for several reasons. For one thing, success is important to everyone I know. There are a lot of books about achieving it, but to my knowledge none follow logical steps--particularly steps that begin with a sense of purpose and self-awareness. Why is it important to begin with these two elements? Because until you know your real purpose in life and understand who you are as a unique individual, the success you pursue could end up being the flavor of the month. David follows with the third foundational element--social awareness. This is where you watch the environment around you so that you are aware of how people are affected by what you say and do. Remember, relationships are just as important--if not more important--than results. Once you have the elements that form the foundation for success--a sense of purpose, a sense of self, and an awareness of how you affect people in the social systems around you--David introduces six differentiators that will help you transition from where you are to where you want to be. Three of these jump out at me. Listening. I've always liked the saying "If God wanted us to speak more than listen he would have given us two mouths." Listening is a skill most of us need to work on. I also love that David includes Humor as one of his six differentiators. To me, the most successful people take what they do seriously but themselves lightly. Humorless people are just not fun or interesting to be around. The other differentiator that really resonates with me is Gratitude. Research shows that when you are in a stressful situation, if you stop and think about what you are thankful for, the stress will subside. Stress and gratitude cannot exist together. As you read this book, you'll also learn about the other three differentiators: Authenticity, Work Ethic and Personal Responsibility, and Articulation. David goes deep to describe all 9 dimensions, giving examples of how and why they are necessary in the big picture. Thanks, David, for showing us that we are our best selves when we realize there is a better way than trial and error to plot our course in life and achieve our ultimate level of success."--Ken Blanchard
