Michelle Cleary is an associate professor in the athletic training programme at Chapman University. She is certified as an athletic trainer and strength and conditioning specialist. Cleary's primary research interests focus on heat-related illness and injury and other sport safety issues. Clearly has also written numerous journal articles and book chapters. Katie Walsh Flanagan is a professor and director of the sports medicine and athletic training at East Carolina University. She previously worked as the head athletic trainer for the professional football team, Chicago Power. She has also assisted as an athletic trainer for various sports in international competitions, including the 1996 Summer Olympic Games and 1987 Pan American Games.
