K-Gr 1‘Amanda Pig is back and finally old enough to start school. "I have been waiting my whole life to go to school," says an exuberant Amanda. In four easy-to-read chapters, Van Leeuwen shares the youngster's first day in her classroom. Schweninger's simple drawings, accomplished with an economy of line, provide plenty of expression and action. Charming and likable from the bus ride to circle time, Amanda leaves room in the spotlight for a quiet child she nicknames Lollipop when the timid youngster refuses to reveal her name. The author's many followers will applaud this addition to the tales of Oliver and Amanda, and they're sure to look forward to seeing more of Lollipop.‘Sharon R. Pearce, San Antonio Public Library, TX
