Zoe Heller was born in London. She was educated at Oxford University and Columbia University in New York. Her first novel, Everything You Know, was published by Viking in 1999, her second, Notes on a Scandal (also published by Viking) was recently made into a feature film starring Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench. Zoe Heller writes a column for the Daily Telegraph and was Columnist of the Year for 2002. She lives in New York.
Heller's third novel-following Everything You Know (2000) and What Was She Thinking? (2003)-is a darkly humorous look at a prominent, liberal New York family coping with the loss of its household head and set against the backdrop of a post-9/11 world in which political and religious ideologies are contrarily questioned and codified. Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress/narrator Andrea Martin juxtaposes the often comic situational interplay among the characters with the inherent sadness at the text's heart. Her performance enhances the invigorating prose and highlights the underlying wit of one of the past decade's foremost authors. For the politically minded urbanite.
