Brandon Bird is an artist working mainly in oil paints on canvas, but he also works in pen and ink and in digital mediums. He is most known for his tendency to paint figures from history and pop culture in absurd situations. He has organised 'weird art shows' such as Law & Order: These are Their Stories which consisted only of paintings inspired by the TV show Law & Order and The Norton Anthology which was a group of portraits of the actor Edward Norton. Bird is a regular contributor to The Believer magazine and he has done work for Las Vegas Weekly and The Aquabats. His website won a 2005 People's Voice Webby Award under the 'Weird' category. He is an associate member of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences
"The quirky compilation is also somehow cathartic, dredging up
nostalgia (lots of old-school Care Bears and Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtle references), while remaining utterly ridiculous, so much so
that no matter how immune one is to the treacle of low-brow
culture, it's sure to amuse."
