Gonul Donmez-Colin is a writer, researcher and lecturer. Among her books in English are Women, Islam and Cinema (2004) and Turkish Cinema and Politics of Identity (forthcoming 2007). She has been a regular contributor to Le Monde Diplomatique, Central Asian Survey, Cinemaya Asian Film Quarterly, and the Turkish national daily, Cumhuriyet.
