This is the book that did what doctors could not - completely demystify what was happening to me when my body shut down and I had no energy whatsoever for months on end. Dr Claire Weekes has dealt with thousands of people suffering from varying degrees of nervous break down and she explains it all in a really calm way, normalises what is happening to you, reassures you that you will get better, then tells you exactly how ! Nervous exhaustion presents differently in us all and Dr Weekes covers all sorts of things that happen to different people so you understand how your body is responding and how normal that actually is. If you are a fairly driven person you will find Dr Weekes's explanation of how to 'float' very helpful in doing things quickly on the outside without pushing so hard on the inside depleting your reserves. The high adrenalin cycle of fear is a very strange and frightening one to be caught up in and you often don't recognise that's what it is at first because many of the symptoms can be so physical. I followed exactly what she said to do and it helped desensitise my nervous system completely. I lost a year of my life going from doctor to doctor being told 'Glandular fever', 'Chronic Fatigue' etc and trying dietary changes etc. Once somebody lent me this book I was able to start functioning more and more normally in a matter of months. I have bought 3 copies of it and lent it to dozens of people who have all ended up buying their own copies as well. I highly recommend this book !
