About the Author

Barbara Brodsky is founder and head dharma teacher of the Deep Spring Center for Meditation and Spiritual Inquiry, an interfaith center that offers Vipassana meditation and Tibetan dzogchen teachings, which stress the nondual nature of existence. Brodsky has been practicing meditation since 1960 and teaching since 1989. She is also a member of the Ann Arbor Friends Meeting and an active participant in the Quaker community. Since becoming totally deaf in 1972 at the age of 29, she has sought a deeper understanding of healing and wholeness. Barbara is also the channel for the spirit Aaron, and with him offers personal spiritual direction sessions and group workshops.

Brodsky was featured in two episodes of the NPR radio show This American Life and was one of the featured teachers in the internationally acclaimed documentary One- The Movie (2005) directed by Ward Powers. Her writing has been included in the anthologies Being Bodies- Buddhist Women on the Paradox of Embodiment and Buddhist Acts of Compassion, and in numerous magazines and journals.

Brodsky lives in Ann Arbor, MI.
