What kind of Dad do you have?

About the Author

Justin has two young daughters and got the idea for the book from watching all the different types of dads dropping their kids off at school. After a decade working in the music industry, Cathie Glassby's illustrations have emerged from her love of music, pop culture, vintage posters and fashion. Her work has led her to be selected as one of a stable of artists to contribute to iconic Australian brand Mambo, and the Australian artist run collective Art Park, with her artwork included in clothing ranges, exhibitions and publications. In 2008 Cathie was nominated as one of the world's most exciting female illustrators by illustration almanac Curvy.

Reviews

PreS-Gr 2-This "field guide" offers opposing pairs, such as sporty/lazy dads, handy/clumsy dads, and more. The book is an import from Australia, and some terms ("smart" meaning "stylish") and illustrations ("rugby" instead of "football") don't translate well for American readers. These men are dads in name only, as they are not shown engaging in any parenting activities. Two dads are shown on toilets. Their differences are all in appearance. The cartoon illustrations are adequate. This book is without substance or charm. Stick with Todd Parr's The Daddy Book (Little, Brown, 2002), an example of how easy it is to offer parental interaction in a simple survey of fathers.-Heidi Estrin, Congregation B'nai Israel, Boca Raton, FL (c) Copyright 2013.
