J. (Jiddu) Krishnamurti (1895-1986) was born in India. At age 14, leading Theosophists declared him a World Teacher and accepted Krishnamurti head of a worldwide Order. Yet in 1929 after years of self-questioning, at the age of 34, he dissolved the Order, repudiated its claims and returned all assets given to him. For nearly 60 years, Krishnamurti tirelessly traveled the world lecturing on the need to know the mind, earning the respect of countless people. Dozens of books document his talks both in the US and in Europe.
"The most impressive thing I have listened to. It was like
listening to a discourse of the Buddha-such power, such intrinsic
authority." -- Aldous Huxley, after attending one of Krishnamurti's
lectures.
"To read him or listen to him, Krishnamurti, is to face oneself and
the world with an astonishing morning freshness." -- Anne Morrow
Lindbergh
