About the Author

John Carter has spent 20 years in Arabia as an Arabist. Five years in the services were followed by eight years working for Shell in Oman, and then a couple of years as Sales Manager for a furniture company selling into Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. He then worked as an independent Marketing Consultant throughout the Middle East for some five years. He settled in Devon with his wife and two daughters and now runs a small Specialist Plant Nursery. He has written a number of books. This compilation of the hilarious series of misunderstandings and mayhem that have bedevilled Anglo-Arab Relations is a result of his wide experience with a people he has grown to love. As an Arabist he has been involved in political, military, commercial and oil industry affairs.
