Reviews

Dec 07/Jan 08 At first glance this book looks perfect for young new beaders and although it would certainly suit a young/teenage beader there is something there for everyone. Like all good bead books it starts with a 'basics' section that briefly covers everything from different beads and threads to various tools. The projects themselves are very well described with a detailed list of materials and tools, although I would have liked a few more photographs of each project. The book is split into six sections depending on technique. There are sections for stringing, wirework, stitching, knots and even an easy assembly section that is perfect for people who've never beaded before. Throughout the book there are also techniques and tips. These are really good and range from things like choosing the right glue to a right-angle weaver. If you love beads, but aren't so keen on making jewellery then don't worry, there are projects for you too like a stylish scrapbook, a beaded purse or even a trendy tank top. There's also a list of suppliers which might be quite useful, although being an American publication this isn't as helpful as it might have been. Overall this is a very good book that I would buy. There's enough of a variety to keep it interesting and useful for a long time. Lucy O'Hara
