About the Author

Franz Brandenberg is the author and illustrator of several books for children. Aliki is the author and illustrator of more than fifty children's books, including My Five Senses, Digging Up Dinosaurs, and Feelings. She grew up in Philadelphia and went to the Philadelphia College of Art. After graduating, she began a career in advertising art, and after marrying author and illustrator Franz Brandenberg moved to Switzerland, where she wrote and illustrated her first book, The Story of William Tell. Soon after, they moved to New York, where she created My Five Senses, the book that set off her career as a children's author and illustrator.

"Elizabeth is envious of all the attention her bedridden brother receives while she must go to school, do her chores, etc. Of course, when she comes down with same illness a few days later, she finds it isn't quite so glamorous as she thought. Aliki's lively pictures turn a routine set-up into just what the doctor ordered." --School Library Journal

I Wish I Was Sick Too! is a simple tale told beautifully...Sick lit is not confined to adult nonfiction, and this is one of my favourite children's picture books about illness, along with Ludwig Bemelmans's Madeline and Shel Silverstein's Every Thing On It." --The Times (UK)

"A common experience, told in simple text, is delightfully pictured." --The Horn Book "Human families with their own Edwards and Elizabeths will enjoy the characterization." --Kirkus Reviews "This one is bound to be a favorite among the very young." --Children's Book Review Service
