About the Author

Kobena Mercer is a writer and lecturer on the visual arts of the black diaspora. Currently in the Dept of Visual Culture and Media at Middlesex University, he has published widely in Screen, Artforum, Third Text, Camera Austria and frieze and recent publications include Africas: the Artist and the City (Barcelona, 2001) Chris Darke is a writer and film critic and has published in a number of journals including Film Comment, Sight & Sound, frieze, The Independent and mute.
