About the Author

David L. Roper has been a professional writer for over twenty years, with dozens of books for adults in print. This is his first children's picture book-inspired by a visit to Romania to visit one of his daughters and her family. Kara Mitchell received her BFA and BLA degrees at Oklahoma State University. Working in Art Education and Landscape design forged her illustration style into what it is today. Playful colors, graphic lines, and underlying humor guide Kara's ideas and images. Currently living in Oklahoma City with her two boys and husband, Mitchell is a freelance illustrator focusing on children's book illustration and illustrated graphics.

Reviews

David L. Roper's unique tale of a pet's devotion to its owners brought a tear to my eye. Although the old couple adored their hen and found different and exciting ways to serve her daily egg for breakfast, they never showed or told her how much they and appreciated her. It wasn't until she almost died of a broken heart that the old couple realized how much the little red hen devoted her whole life to them. The little old man and the little old woman rejoiced to be given a second chance. From then on, they told the hen how wonderful her eggs were and how much they appreciated having her in their lives. I enjoyed The Little Old Man, the Little Old Woman, and the Little Red Hen and recommend it to children aged 4-7 years of age. Rosie Malezer, Australia
