Reviews

"A new book about the colonists, "The Lost Colony and Hatteras Island," published in June and citing 10 years of excavations at nearby Hatteras Island, aims to put the mystery to bed. The book's author, Scott Dawson, a researcher from Hatteras, argues that the Native people who lived there took in the English settlers and that historical records and artifacts can end the debate." New York Times

"A recently-published book outlining 11 years of research by multiple teams aims to put weight behind a leading theory for the colony of Roanoke's supposed disappearance, putting to bed centuries of wild speculation."Vice

"The English colonists who settled the so-called Lost Colony before disappearing from history simply went to live with their native friends -- the Croatoans of Hatteras, according to a new book." Virginia Pilot
