About the Author

Alan Knight is Professor Emeritus of the History of Latin America at Oxford University. His work focuses on twentieth-century Mexico, but also ranges into earlier periods of Mexican history, as well as broader modern Latin American history. He has been a Guggenheim Fellow, a Leverhulme Research Reader, and a Fellow of the British Academy and, in 2010, he was awarded the Aztec Eagle by the Mexcan government. Previous books include The Mexican Revolution:
Porfirians, Liberals and Peasants (CUP, 2002).
