About the Author

Born in Adelaide in 1941, Murray Bail lived in Bombay and London for several years before returning to Australia, where he now lives in Sydney. He is an acclaimed novelist, having won a number of major awards for his writing, including the 1999 Miles Franklin Award and Commonwealth Writer's Prize for EUCALYPTUS. His other work includes THE DROVER'S WIFE AND OTHER STORIES, HOMESICKNESS and a study of the painter Ian Fairweather. His latest work, NOTEBOOKS, is based on recorded stories and conversations, aphorisms, and his thoughts on art, literature and landscape.
