About the Author

Lydia and Francois met on the 25th of August 1974, while he was working with Youth For Christ. She was sixteen and he nineteen! The following year he studied Greek and Hebrew at the University of Pretoria for three years while Lydia completed her nursing training. In 1978 Francois also spent a year with Youth with a Mission. They married in January 1979 and are blessed with four amazing children, Renaldo, Tehilla, Christo and Stefan. They worked in fulltime mission for fourteen years, during which time they also pastored a church and led a training facility for more than 700 students over a five-year period. They then left the ministry and for ten years did business mainly in the tourism industry. They built and managed a Safari Lodge in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve and eventually relocated to Hermanus where they started Southern Right Charters for boat-based whale watching. In December 2000 Francois began to write the book, "God believes in You" which led to him being invited to speak at various Christian camps and churches. They are now back in fulltime ministry since February 2004, and travel regularly abroad and into Africa as well as South Africa. Francois has written several books in both English and Afrikaans, including God Believes in You, Divine Embrace, Done! and The Mystery Revealed. He is currently passionately engaged in continuing with his translation of the Mirror Bible. His work is being translated into several African languages as well as Chinese, Russian, Hungarian, German, French, Spanish, Polish, Portugese, Dutch and Slovakian. Mirror review: Wow. For those of us who grew up in a "King James" only, traditional religious/church background, this will challenge you. I've been a student of the scriptures for many years and have many bible translations. I can debate theology and word meanings with all of you. I can appeal to your intellect with old english scripture definitions about God and his dealings with us. Mr. Francois has set aside that agenda, and has shown the heart and love of our Father within the Mirror Bible. If you read it to find Jesus, it will mess you up...in a great way! Do not buy this if you are looking for a bible to study up on in order to defeat your brother-in-Christ in your next theological sparring match. If you read it with an open spirit, you'll lose your concern with theology altogether, and be overwhelmed by a daddy (God) who is crazy about you. This is not a Genesis to Revelation bible. It was not put together by a team of seminary professors. It is probably not going to be widely accepted at your favorite local denominational church. It is not "authorized" or "accredited" by any of the major publishers who control the marketshare on bible sales. It IS full of life, freedom, and love. When you read it without pretense, you will surely see the greatest reflection of all... "Christ in you"! Stephen Morrison -writes this review... Mirror Bible Francois blew it out of the water with this translation. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite translations of the bible (of which I have many). This translations has done many things for me: 1) it challenged my perception of how I read the bible. I grew up in church my whole life, and so I am used to the same basic ideas in each verse, due to repetition. But this bible brings a glorious and much needed freshness to the bible. 2) it clarified many hard to understand scriptures. Francois does a great job with his commentary and explanations into the Greek of the text. You can tell he did his homework with this one, and he proves it to you. 3) This translation intoxicated me with the love, and goodness of God made manifest through the cross of Jesus Christ! I found myself only being able to digest a chapther a day of this bible, because I would read a verse, and meditate upon it for 10-15 minutes! This book, if you let it, will radically change your adoration for the Lord!
