About the Author

Barbara Shepherd is the author of a picture book, novel, cookbook, and poetry chapbook: The Potbelly Pig Promise, River Bend, Vittles and Vignettes, and Patchwork Skin. She received the "Outstanding Author Award for 2016" from Rose State and (twice) "Writer of the Year" from American Christian Writers. She is a Woody Guthrie Poet and a former nominee for Poet Laureate of the State of Oklahoma. David Barrow spent his happiest hours in the elementary school library. It was there he read books about famous people and learned how to draw. After working as a graphic designer, camera man, and video editor, Barrow embarked on his lifelong dream of illustrating children's books.
