About the Author

One of Scotland's most established and prolific playwrights, Peter Arnott began his career at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh with his play White Rose in 1985. Since then he has written more than forty professionally produced plays, including Muir, Losing Alec, the TMA award-winning The Breathing House, A Little Rain (7:84) and Cyprus. Adaptations include Neil Gunn's The Silver Darlings. In 2013 he won a Fringe First in Edinburgh with Why Do You Stand There in the Rain? In the same year, Janis Joplin: Full Tilt debuted at Oran Mor and has just completed a run at the Theatre Royal, Stratford East. His first novel, Moon Country, was published by Vagabond Voices in 2015.

Reviews

'There's so much wickedly pointed humour in Peter Arnott's writing that we're constantly lured into politically incorrect laughter - a story steeped in love, loyalty, money and family dysfunction. Can't wait! Back-to-back these monologues would be a grand double bill - fingers crossed!' - The Herald; '...two faces, two attitudes to life ... profound and moving ... plumbs the depths of a complex relationship which is occasionally fond and affectionate, but for the most part lived as jealousy, rivalry, resentment, bitterness and even outright aversion. ... These are mighty plays, raising huge, disquieting questions, humorous in part but never whimsical, inducing in an audience that sombre, meditative silence which is a sign of respect.' - Scottish Review of Books
