K-Gr 1-These books introduce key elements of safety; however, the full-page, full-color photographs are often nonspecific, and in some cases unintentionally display unsafe conditions (a boy wears his bicycle helmet incorrectly, a child points to a smoke detector that is placed much lower than is safe/effective). While the texts may be straightforward and accessible to young readers, they're unlikely to hold children's interest. Additionally, several words featured in the glossaries do not directly relate to the books' topics or else are explained using circular or confusing definitions.-Joanie Terrizzi, Park East Day School, New York City Copyright 2007 Reed Business Information.
