Reviews

The definitive history of Michigan's Copper Country. Thurner analyzes community building, first by Native Americans and then by a surprising array of European immigrants. He explains the rise and eventual decline of copper mining on the Keweenaw Peninsula, as well as the shifting relationship between mine managers and workers. A major contribution to American social and labor history.--Louise C. Wade "Louise C. Wade"
