About the Author

Dr Joan MacCracken is a retired Bangor paediatrician, who for many years has travelled to Nicaragua with "Partners in Health". This group of health providers has worked to improve the health of the people in the city of Puerto Cabezas and the outlying regions. Dr MacCracken's compassion soon expanded beyond medical care as she embraced the educational needs of their children. Her dream is to build a public library for the people of Puerto Cabezas.
