SANAA ABOUREZK was born and raised in Damascus, Syria, and came to the United States to pursue a comprehensive education in food and nutrition. She is the owner of an award-winning Mediterranean restaurant in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, that was named one of the top vegetarian restaurants in the US in 2018 and was featured on the 2016 season finale of Food Network's Beat Bobby Flay.
"Sanaa's unique background brings so much depth and flavor to her
cooking. The first time I experienced her food I was transported
back to Ottolegnhi in London. She is the Ottolegnhi of the
Midwest." ?Chef MJ Adams
"If simple, healthy living has always baffled you, this cookbook is
the key to unlock the way. Sanaa has written a must-have vegetarian
Mediterranean cookbook for anyone looking for fantastic health
benefits, delicious food, and less stress. In my 20 years as an
endocrinologist and metabolism expert, I have not run across
recipes that adopt a well-balanced plant-based diet and are fun to
make as the ones in this book." ?Rim Joubran, MD, FACE, ECNU
"My good luck in life was to have two grandmothers who cooked
delicious Mediterranean food. Later, education taught me the health
benefits of a vegetarian diet. In her new book, Sanaa Abourezk
provides us the best of both worlds. She may even spur me to learn
how to cook at last." ?Anthony Saidy, M.D., M.P.H., preventive
medicine specialist
"This cookbook is one of the few books that combines the simplicity
of vegetarian cooking with the beneficial aspects of the
Mediterranean lifestyle. As a cardiologist, I am very enthusiastic
about this book. Besides the great taste of the many recipes
mentioned, there are countless health benefits that one will gain
from following such a diet. Most recipes take less than half an
hour to prepare, with fresh and readily available ingredients."
