The Welsh Cake Cookbook features a selection of recipes celebrating one of Wales' best loved dishes. These little cakes are peculiar to Wales; the Irish are famous for their potato cakes, the Scots with their oatcakes and the Bretons with their crepes but none make a sweet scone-like delicacy with quite the same appeal as the Welsh cake.

This is a lovely little book of good information, a lot of pictures but only 10 recipes, all with the same basic ingredients each one using different additional ingredients to give variety of flavour. The first time I made the cakes I added another egg to help bring it quicker together to roll out. It worked well, the texture changed to more of a cake consistency & they rose more but the result was delicious, as was the original 1 egg recipe that I persevered successfully with next time. These cakes are extremely more-ish and very easy to make. I've begun making up my own combinations using ginger & lemon peel to suit what I had in my pantry at the time. Am going to try them with leftover Christmas mince next time.

This is a wonderful book. I lived in wales in my younger days and my mum used to make Welsh cakes now and then & we kids loved them. She was always a little "coy" about the recipe but now, with this book, I have a world of various recipe's, including her's I reckon!

As far as I know this is a new and very novel look at the old Welsh Cake.
There are ingredients that I would never have dreamed of putting together, and have not heard of it being done before. I did emigrate in 1966 so things
could have changed a lot in that time. Can't wait to try out some of the

I love the little book. It's not often I am able to find a book devoted to a Welsh icon like the Welsh cake. Being Welsh, I learnt how to make these by watching my Mother make them. Really pleased with the book.

Recipes work, but not as many recipes as anticipated...
Won't be buying any more in that series.
