Performer Notes

This is a quizzical, band-selected anthology of everything from singles, album tracks, live moments, and other material meant to reflect the wild ambition and iconoclastic nature of New Model Army. This two-disc set includes the two audio CDs from the deluxe, limited-edition 30th anniversary boxed set -- which can only be purchased through the band's website -- without the nine hours of DVD, booklets, liners, and photos. That said, this collection of songs which will delight longtime fans of the band from its earlier incarnations to its present day form -- even though they may quibble with some selections -- is about as far from a "greatest-hits" compilation as one is likely to find, thankfully. (Besides, there are singles and rarities and live collections already out there.) Instead, these carefully selected choices portray a band who remain, despite their years and changes, as musically ambitious as ever, and defy all expectations. Anthology is recommended for newcomers and veterans alike. ~ Thom Jurek
