AWAKE AND BREATHE is the second album by British pop band B*Witched.
The four lovelies of Dublin deliver another luscious package of pop confection with their sophomore opus, AWAKE AND BREATHE. Although B*Witched's dizzying ascent to stardom since the group's self-titled release has afforded them some noticeable refinement in their music, the girls are still as bubbly and vivacious as ever. Set to consistently big, happy beats, these are bright songs about moving forward, being yourself, chasing dreams, and all the seasons of young love.
"Jesse Hold On" bears a striking resemblance to the '80s hit "Come on Eileen," with sprightly banjo, bubblegum keyboards, and an inspiring harmonized chorus. "I Shall Be There" has the vast feeling of a rolling Irish pasture, with soaring piano and string arrangements and some stirring background vocal gusts blowing off of Cape Horn, courtesy of the illustrious Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Track for track, these four pixies have a seemingly endless heap of clovers to blow through the stereo.
