As Jay McShann's bouncy, almost mischievous, piano tickling style contains echoes of his contemporary, the great Fats Waller, it's fitting that for a golden years recording in 1982, he would tap Waller's guitar player, Al Casey, as part of his combo. Casey's flirtatious, engaging guitar plays perfect counterpoint to McShann's agile flourishes and rolls. McShann's bluesy, slightly breezy voice pops in on a couple of tracks, including his spry rendition of "Going to Kansas City."
