Harmonica wizard Charlie Musselwhite recorded three albums for the Vanguard label at the beginning of his solo career, and VANGUARD VISIONARIES culls 10 cuts from those discs. Musselwhite had learned well from the generation of country and electric blues musicians that preceded him, and the chops he displays on these recordings attest to the fact. Musselwhite would go on to create a formidable discography, but there's a special fire to these first solo outings that blazes through several decades later.
