  • Although the Birds never quite took off (their name putting them at loggerheads with the much more popular American band playing no small part in there undoing), there was a time when they were one of the most explosive and popular acts on the burgeoning heavy British blues circuit. A supergroup in reverse, featuring Ron Wood, later of the Faces and Rolling Stones, and Kim Gardener, later of Creation, the Birds had a ragged energy and fierce attack that presaged both Creation's and the Faces' own rough qualities. This fantastic 18-track collection includes everything the band ever recorded, including Ron Wood's first recordings and the single "Leaving Here" (later covered by Motorhead), with detailed liner notes and beautiful packaging. A great pick-up for anyone still deciding between the mods and the rockers.
