Blind Melon: Travis Warren (vocals, acoustic guitar); Christopher Thorn (guitars, lap steel guitar, Wurlitzer piano); Roger Stevens (guitars, piano); Brad Smith (bass guitar, percussion, background vocals); Glenn Graham (drums).
Their first studio album in 13 years, FOR MY FRIENDS finds Blind Melon continuing in the vein of their work in the 1990s. The band's rise to stardom was stopped short in 1995 with the sudden death of lead singer Shannon Hoon, but replacement Travis Warren, who reenergizes the band on FOR MY FRIENDS, does an impressive job filling his shoes. For fans, the album will be a welcome return to Blind Melon's friendly, relaxed, classic rock-influenced roots, with tunes like "For My Friends" and "Wishing Well" hitting the same expansive rock-&-roll highs of the band's 1992 debut. Confident and freewheeling, Blind Melon's comeback disc makes it feel like no time has passed in the interim.
