Performer Notes
  • Recording information: Olmsted Sound Studio, New York, NY; Stea-Phillips Recording Studio.
  • Arranger: Charles Calello.
  • The Four Seasons' second hits collection covered the first two years of their stay at Philips Records, a period nearly as successful as the previous two years spent at Vee Jay Records and covered by that label's 1963 Golden Hits LP. Here, the hits led off with the Seasons' latest Top Ten smash, "Let's Hang On!," and followed by the chart-topping "Rag Doll," the Top Tens "Dawn (Go Away)," "Ronnie," and "Save It For Me," the Top 40s "Big Man in Town," "Bye, Bye, Baby (Baby Goodbye)," and "Girl Come Running," and the chart entry "Toy Soldier." The Four Seasons would continue to score big hits for the next couple of years (for those, see New Gold Hits), but this album covers them at an especially engaging and popular point in their career. ~ William Ruhlmann
