Released in 2006, THE INTELLIGENT DESIGN OF... collects rarities by the Chicago-based post-rock band Joan of Arc. As one might guess from the group's penchant for quirky song titles (i.e. "Stemingway & Heinbeck," "For a Half-Deaf Girl Named Echo") and dreamy, experimental arrangements, the tracks here are far from conventional, with the chiming, drone-laden single "You" providing one of the compilation's most accessible moments.
