Ian Tyson's Lost Herd paints nine musical portraits of life in the West. Recorded in Toronto, Calgary and Nashville with those cities' finest musicians, the album captures the loneliness of the plains, long days of summer, and dreams of the Canadian landscape. Songs like "La Primera" and "Brahmas & Mustangs" represent true cowboy culture, while Tyson's cover of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" adds a rustic dreaminess to the classic tune. Lost Herd is a welcome blend of cowboy traditions from yesterday and today. ~ Heather Phares
