Performer Notes
  • QDK's epically thorough world psych series, LOVE, PEACE & POETRY, has long proven that jangly guitars, fuzz boxes, lyrics about love, and other psychedelic trappings were not strictly the province of Anglo/American radio. This tenth installment covers Chile from the years 1967 to 1973, an era of tremendous political turmoil in the region that hardly stopped local longhairs from plugging in and, if anything, was a source of motivation. Like the rest of the series, this chapter features a mix of both international groups covering Western psychedelic rock and pop styles (such as Kissing Spell's "Yellow Moon") and bands applying those styles to their region's folk traditions (such as the gorgeous "Foto De Primera Comunion" by Los Jaivas or any of the three tracks by Los Blops.) Most of these recordings are ultra-rare and appear on disc for the first time, making the set a must for psych collectors.
Professional Reviews
Global Rhythm (Publication) (p.50) - "Many of the tracks presented here are extremely rare....They prominently feature the swirling sounds and jangling melodies so familiar to psychedelic music, from such forgotten bands as Los Vidruis Quebrados, Kissing Spell and Los Blops."
