  • Composition and improvisation merge in a special way in the duets of Chick Corea and Gary Burton. Their association is long-standing, and here they work their magic on a new set of music, all composed by Chick Corea with the exception of Bartok's "Bagatelles #6, #2, and #3" and Thelonius Monk's "Four in One". There's a bridge between classical music and jazz which is crossed with vitality by these two master musicians. There's nothing academic about this music though; the tones of Corea's grand piano and Burton's vibraphone and marimba blend beautifully throughout and Corea's composition "Post Script" leads out of "Bagatelle #6" so seamlessly it's hard to tell where one composer ends and the other begins.
