  • On this aptly titled 1957 album, critically lauded musicians Barney Kessel (guitar), Ray Brown (bass), and Shelly Manne (drums) were united as a jazz supergroup, yielding predictably stellar results. Given the spare trio setup, each player has moments in the spotlight, though Kessel naturally leads every tune with his deft, delicate six-string work. Highlights of the lightly swinging, bebop-tinged record include a laid-back take on "Satin Doll" and a sauntering rendition of "On Green Dolphin Street."
