  • The lullaby industry has shown that it's possible to turn anything into a lullaby, even the roar of a band like Metallica, if one tosses in enough pastel and muted chimes, strings and keyboards, but this set takes a different approach to the same aim by taking songs by indie artists and having other, newer indie artists cover them. The result is a charming sequence of gentle songs, with the Real Tuesday Weld's version of Malvina Reynold's "Little Boxes," Casey Mecija's take on the Beatles' (one could hardly call them an indie band) "Dear Prudence," and O+S' wonderful interpretation of Chris Bell's (founding member of Big Star along with Alex Chilton) gorgeous "You and Your Sister" being particular standouts. ~ Steve Leggett
