  • Since the mid '60s, Chick Corea has been known as a master pianist and one of music's most creative composers. On this disc, the first of two volumes of solo piano performances from 1999, Corea displays his well-known talents to the fullest.
  • Save for two Scriabin preludes, Corea offers masterful interpretations of some of his most cherished compositions and a few that may be unfamiliar to fans. In this intimate setting, his nimble touch and keen harmonic invention are emphasized with a heightened clarity. Included in the set are several of the pianist's intricate "Children's Songs," the danceable "Armando's Rhumba," and, of course, his signature piece, "Spain." Other notable cuts that showcase Corea's command of the instrument include his meandering "Brasilia" and the delicate "April Snow." The second volume of this set contains Corea's solo interpretations of many classic standard songs.
