  • STRANGELAND is an album that should appeal to all factions of the heavy metal community. Compiled by the movie's star and creator, Dee Snider, this soundtrack is an exercise in anger and brutality that doesn't let up. Modern metal groups like Sevendust ("Breathe") and Coal Chamber ("Not Living") combine double bass drum precision with machine gun riffs. While all the bands on the record have confessed their love for classic Twisted Sister, dayinthelife… contribute a reworking of Sister's "Street Justice." Instead of just copying the track note for note, they provide an acoustic prelude that leads into a stylized, subdued version. Also paying homage to glam kings Sister is Crisis ("Captain Howdy"), who updating the song successfully.
  • Metal's veterans abound on this album. Megadeth, Anthrax, and Pantera show the new bands how to kick it old school style with headbanging hooks that rock the house. But the highlight is when Dee and his Twisted bandmates reunite for their first new song in 12 years. "Heroes Are Hard To Find" is a powerful rocker that picks up exactly where the band left off. The groups on this record are sick and scary, and we wouldn't want it any other way.
