  • The third LP by these 21st-century British up-and-comers veers between boozy street poetry and feedback-pedal ruptures like "Killed By The Boom." But it's hard not to fall in love with Finn Andrews's sober ballads, such as the luminously sad opener, "Sit Down By The Fire," and the Richard Ashcroft-like bluesy drone of "It Hits Deep." This balance between melodic bombast and pretty melancoly also brings to mind recent forebears like Idlewild. And given that band's status as one of the 1990s/2000s' most underrated U.K. offerings, both groups deserve all the exposure they can get.
Professional Reviews
Pitchfork (Website) - "[T]he band's heartbeat is that of Finn Andrews....With the group's often spare arrangements and bluesy, sandpapery melodies, it is his keening voice that gives the Veils their emotional wallop."

Clash (magazine) (p.107) - "Towards the end of the eight-minute epic, 'Larkspur' you realise that this is a band at the height of their creative talent and you are privileged to be a part of it."
