A favored harmony singer for Shawn Colvin, Suzanne Vega, Richard Shindell and other New York City folk luminaries, Lucy Kaplansky has long been in demand for her appealing signature vocal style. It's a voice that's sometimes sweet and sometimes as dry and cutting as the winter wind of her native Chicago. Following the success of her 1994 debut THE TIDE, Kaplansky put her career as a practicing psychologist on hold, hit the road and never looked back.
On TEN YEAR NIGHT, this talented singer and songwriter sings 10 carefully-crafted story-songs that stretch across various pop, folk and country styles. The cocky and world-wise "Turn The Lights Back On" is evocative of the California country-rock she reportedly grew up listening to. Meanwhile, the title track and the pop gem "End of the Day" are firmly rooted in the urbane, New York folk style she displayed with her debut. Fans of artists like Colvin, Vega and Nanci Griffith, will not be disappointed.
