This project had its genesis in a play of the same name by Stuart McKenzie. Montgomery was assigned to write music to accompany his fellow New Zealander's theatrical piece. This album combines the music for the play with four collaborations between Montgomery and his Dissolve partner Chris Heaphy. Since Heaphy's input is limited to the in-studio improvisations of TRUE's second half, the album is closer to Montgomery's solo outings than to Dissolve. Endless layers of delicately intertwined guitar are fed through seemingly every effect imaginable to create a lustrous sonic sheen. On the Heaphy cuts, particularly the aptly titled "Clouding Over," there's an added sense of urgency and a slightly ominous air to the proceedings.
